An Evening With Michael Tiernan & Band 7/12

The Michael Tiernan Band performs on Thursday, July 12 at 7pm at VISION’s Night Vision. It’s an alternative to heading out to a club (with the noise and booze) to see a great show.

“They’ve always been really supportive of local musicians and songwriters, especially those that might have a positive or spiritual undertone to their music. I was so surprised and really stoked the first time I went there to hear the teachings of Buddha side by side with Jesus and other great spiritual leaders— I’m glad they asked us to perform—I love the intimate vibe of venues like these—it all about the music, you can really connect with the audience and the acoustics of VISION are incredible,” says Michael Tiernan. Tickets are $15. in Advance and $18. at the Door. For more visit www.visioncsl.com.

Bhava Ram at SD Yoga Journal Conf. 7/13-16

Bhava Ram will reveal the steps he took to move from “terminal” cancer, a broken back and deep depression to juicy, fulfilled and vibrantly alive at the first ever Yoga Journal Conference to be held in San Diego from July 13-16. (See www.yjevents.com/sd)

Bhava, the author of Deep Yoga – Ancient Wisdom for Modern Lives and The 8 Limbs of Yoga - Pathway to Liberation, leads Yoga and Ayurveda workshops and retreats, conducts teacher trainings, offers personal counseling, and performs his uniquely inspirational style of spiritual music in Southern California, the US and internationally. At the Yoga Journal Conference, he will for the first time share the fascinating story of his personal healing and transformation and present a new 8 step program he developed for all to embrace and live life to its fullest.

A broken back abruptly ended Bhava’s highly successful career as a hard driving foreign TV correspondent. Life as he new it on network news, covering some of the most momentous events of our times, was over. His reporting on conflicts and revolutions from Afghanistan and Asia to Latin America and South Africa had featured him on nightly NBC news with Tom Brokaw and earned him most every prestigious media award there is. But now he was confined to a body brace, considered permanently disabled, dependent on ever increasing doses of pain medications. When, four years after failed surgery on his vertebra, he was diagnosed with Stage IV throat cancer from exposure to depleted uranium used in the First Gulf War, he fell into the deepest emotional abyss. He was given only years to live, just as his only son turned two.

At the brink of death, Bhava decided to detox off the heavy medications cold turkey. And as soon as he was offered therapeutic Yoga treatments, he began to see the light. Applying the same zeal that had once earned him such acclaim in the media world, he now studied Yoga and Ayurveda. After intense years of practice, he was cancer-free and had overcome the excruciating chronic pain in his back. At the Yoga Journal Conference, Bhava will share the lessons he learned and how you can apply them to the challenges in your life.

His Sunday Workshop (July 15), “Deep Yoga: The Guru is You” focuses on Yoga as sacred ritual of healing, empowerment and growth. If you suffer from chronic illness or chronic pain, this workshop could change your life.

Bhava’s Saturday Workshop (July 14), “8 Steps to Freedom” incorporates strategies for opening up to a deep wellspring of love, compassion, joy, extraordinary gratitude for everyday miracles, and an overwhelming desire to serve humanity, helping to set your Self free and access an inner power that is boundless and love that lights up the world.

Bhava lives in San Diego and is the only local member of the conference faculty. He will also facilitate a morning meditation, offer a workshop on building conscious community, and participate in a roundtable discussion, all on Friday (July 13). For details: DeepYoga.com or YJEvents.com/sd/.

Martin Sheen in The Way Film Showing 7/19

The Way is a powerful and inspirational story about family, friends and the challenges we face while navigating this ever-changing and complicated world. Written and directed by Emilio Estevez, the film stars Martin Sheen (Tom) as an irascible American doctor who comes to France to deal with the tragic loss of his son (played by Emilio). Rather than returning home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage “The Way of St. James” to honor his son’s desire to finish the journey. Through unexpected and often times amusing experiences along “The Way,” Tom discovers the differences between the “life we live and the life we choose.” The film will be shown on Thursday, July 19 at 7pm. VISION, a Center for Spiritual Living is located at 11260 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Visit www.visioncsl.com

Master Yogiraj Siddhanath’s Upcoming Tour

Kundalini Kriya Yoga Master, Yogiraj Siddhanath, will visit San Diego and Los Angeles this summer. His Southern California US Tour begins on Aug 11 in San Diego and continues in Los Angeles on August 18th.

In 1974, Yogiraj encountered Mahavatar Babaji and when he returned to civilization Yogiraj penned his adventures through consciousness in the landmark autobiography, Wings to Freedom: Revelations of Babaji and the Himalayan Yogis. The knowledge of Mahavatar Babaji was first introduced to the West in Paramahamsa Yogananda’s seminal work, Autobiography of a Yogi. In 2011, Yogiraj wrote, Babaji: The Lightning Standing Still, revealing publicly, for the first time, the facts and origins of Babaji. Recently awarded the Most Influential Book of the New Millennium Award by the American Authors Association.

As Yogiraj embarks on his 2012 World Tour through Europe and the United States, he offers profound personal transformation through his Satsangs or Unified Consciousness workshops. His workshops include healing energy transmissions, intriguing discourses, refreshing insights and humor, and, of course, initiation into the most authentic Himalayan yogic sciences, Mahavatar Babaji’s Kundalini Kriya Yoga.

Through the Kriya Yoga Empowerment workshops, Yogiraj offers seekers sacred techniques to eliminate seeds of negative karma, purify their central nervous systems, flush toxins and disease, bring the systems into balance, and dissolve nervous states to true peace. These techniques help practitioners achieve holistic harmony and nourish the body, mind and spirit into balance, relax consciousness into the Now, and waken their dormant Kundalini safely and gradually to achieve the super-conscious states of Samadhi, yoga’s ultimate goal.

Yogiraj Siddhanath will begin his 2012 US tour in Mid-July visiting the East Coast followed by Southern California & Seattle. He will arrive in Southern California and host Healing Enlightenment Satsangs & Kriya Yoga Empowerment Workshops in San Diego/Encinitas & Los Angeles between Aug. 11-19th, followed a New Life Awakening Kundalini Kriya Yoga Meditation Retreat in Carlsbad, CA starting Sep. 27th. For registration & more information, please visit www.Siddhanath.org, email [email protected] or call 1-866-YOGI-RAJ.
