MOXIE Theater to extend production
of Sara Ruhl’s Eurydice to July 18

Critical acclaim, audience enthusiasm, and good news about their continued occupancy at the Rolando theater space at 6663 El Cajon Blvd. in San Diego has led MOXIE theater to extend through July 18 its production of the new play Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl. Praised by critics in NY when it premiered at the Yale Rep in 2006, Ruhl’s reworking of the story of Orpheus and his fated marriage retells the myth with an emphasis on Eurydice’s experience in the Underworld. This evocative, shimmering production with its themes of love & loss and remembering & forgetting speaks to the heart, the soul and the spirit in equal, and equally effective, measure. With Jennifer Eve Thorn, Justin Lange and Todd Blakesley, directed by Delicia Turner Sonnenberg. Plays Thurs-Sat 8pm & Sun 2pm through Sunday, July 18 (July 4 excluded.) For tickets and information: www.moxietheater.com/content/eurydice-8pm, or call (858) 598-7620.

Radical Wholeness Workshop July 11

Rev. Gary Kuebler will be conducting a workshop that explores the concepts and practices of Wholeness on July 11 at 12:30 pm at VISION: A Center for Spiritual Living.

The workshop is about understanding our thoughts, beliefs, opinions and speech related to our own wholeness and that of others. Rev. Keubler will examine the thinking that traps many people in their “partness” and provide discussions and exercises that support them in cultivating their consciousness of wholeness. The radical part comes into play when we realize how committed we must be if we are to overcome our deeply ingrained beliefs, our consciousness of race and our constant exposure to the media assault we are all subjected to in our “dis-ease” centric society. This workshop is designed to take participants into the non-linear mind—where the relative can be transcended and the absolute can be revealed! It will cover practices that can be used immediately to develop the consciousness of Radical Wholeness.

The workshop will be held following VISION’s 10am Sunday Celebration, at which Rev. Kuebler will be the guest speaker. A lunch break will be included. VISION is located at 11260 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. See www.visioncsl.com

A Question of Water opens questions
of faith at the New Jewish Play Festival

Spiritual theater offerings come few and far between, but this month also offers the first annual Across the Generations New Jewish Play Festival initiated by noted local Director and Playwright J. Marcus Newman, who presents a staged reading of playwright Steven Schutzman’s A Question of Water, in which a mysterious Fisherman beckons an embittered widower into a re-examination of his marriage, the rejected Judaism of his youth and the meaning of redemption, in a play that sizzles with rich imagery and salty dialogue. Local actors David S. Cohen and Robert DeLillo and a talented cast of young newcomers are featured. Two performances only: Sat. July 17, at 8pm. and Sun., July 18, at 2pm at Temple Dor Hadash, 4858 Ronson Ct., Ste A, San Diego 92111. Adults: $10. Students & Seniors $5. For information, contact or call (858) 268-3674.

Bhakti Therapist Moves to Encinitas

After 3-plus years in Oceanside, Bhakti massage therapist Catherine Goff has moved to a new office in Encinitas where she will work Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. What is a Bhakti Massage? It is a very relaxing Reiki Energy technique with smooth flowing strokes that she learned from Julie & Dale McNittt, the authors of Bhakti Energy Work For Enlightenment.

Catherine describes her journey, which started in January 2004, “when my life was turned upside down by divorce. I chose Massage as a new career, because I wanted to do something I liked and I love massage. I was embraced by the loving and healing work at Bhakti Academe of Intuitive Massage and Healing.”

“The work there focused not only on the body but on the mind and the spirit. Because I am a Cancer, the nurturing part of massage comes naturally to me. During my time at Bhakti, we were exposed to many modalities of Bodywork: Reflexology, Shiatsu, Swedish &Thai Massage, Chinese Medicine, and Reiki. I am certified for Reiki I, II and III and an LMT.”

Catherine’s new office is located across the street from Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas at 345 Santa Fe Drive. Call (760) 696-2506 for an appointment, or e-mail .

Summer of Love Concert With Larisa Stowe
& Shakti Tribe, Donna De Lory, Aug. 7

The annual Summer of Love fundraiser concert with Larisa Stow & Shakti Tribe, Donna De Lory and Here II Here will be on Saturday, August 7, at 6:30pm at Seaside Center for Spiritual Living in Encinitas. The event is sponsored by InnernetEvents.com—The Community Calendar.

Larisa Stow & Shakti Tribe will be headlining this evening with their rock-oriented style of “East meets West” music that mixes kirtan, mantra and uplifting songs. Shakti Tribe, headed up by Los Angeles Music Award’s Singer/Songwriter of the Year Larisa Stow, celebrates unity, culture and diversity through their music’s messages of peace, hope and love. The band formed their own non-profit Shakti Tribe Foundation in 2007 as a way to raise awareness—and funds—to benefit places where people are at a crossroads: Prisons, juvenile detention centers, halfway houses, and the like. During their programs, they use music as a foundation to weave in transformational tools that include mantra, meditation, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and yoga to instill personal responsibility & self-worth, to reduce anger and to create positive attachments. (A portion of the evening’s profits benefit their Shakti Tribe Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit project of International Humanities Center.)

Donna De Lory will grace the audience with the sultry, expressive and spiritually-charged music from her latest release Sanctuary. Donna is probably best known for her years as one of Madonna’s on stage cohorts.

The “Conscious Pop” group Here II Here kicks off the evening with their rhythmic blend of tribal pop, illuminated rock, and soul-inspired R&B harmonies.

The evening will begin with an array of Vegan/Raw & Indian Foods prepared by Master Chef Brad Wolff. For a heavenly effect, the show includes Bliss Lights, a laser light show. Concert Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and can be purchased by visiting www.innernettickets.com or in person at Soulscapes Books & Gifts in Encinitas.
